Connect SAP Rise with Microsoft Azure @EKZ

Company Profile

The Elektrizitätswerkedes Kantons Zürich (EKZ) is a utilities company that supplies with high-quality power to the largest Swiss economic area. EKZ directly supplies 125 out of 162 municipalities in the area of the Canton of Zürich, with the rest being served through other distributors or self-supply by cities like Zürich and Winterthur.

Problem Statement

EKZ has relied on Microsoft Azure to consume and process SAP data to generate their reports. After EKZ migrated their SAP system into the cloud, it meant that a new architecture was necessary and that their previews interface between their SAP system and Microsoft Azure was not usable anymore. The connection between these two systems, which were hosted and managed by different parties, had to be established anew.

Solution

Developing the new data architecture and implementing the new integration between their SAP Rise and Microsoft Azure. This meant also identifying and guiding all the involved parties in order to establish the new data connection in an effective and secure way.

Added Customer Value

The SAP – Microsoft Azure integration allows the EKZ to consume the data from their new SAP Rise system in Azure and to process it with Azure Data Factory for their different reports. This allowed them to profit from the freedom and possibilities for reporting and analytics that comes from a modern cloud infrastructure.
