Problem Statement

BBC wanted to improve their ability to analyze its financial data, which was dispersed across various systems and departments. This fragmentation led to data silos, manual data consolidation, and reconciliation efforts that were time-consuming. Additionally, the lack of real-time financial insights limited proactive decision-making and strategic planning. BBC needed a unified, secure, and efficient solution to streamline its financial reporting and provide actionable insights to its business users.

Solution That Was Implemented

Conactive collaborated with BBC to develop a comprehensive SAP Data Lake Infrastructure for Financial Monitoring & Planning. This robust solution leveraged Microsoft Azure's capabilities to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data, ensuring accurate and timely financial insights.

Configuration

Conactive implemented a secure configuration framework to guarantee reliable data connections and cyber-security. Key components included:

• Data connectors
• System settings
• Security protocols

·       Data Storage: A single source of truth was established by consolidating data from multiple sources into Azure Data Lake. This centralized data storage ensured consistency and reliability across the organization.

·       Data ETL: Using Azure Synapse, Python, and Pyspark, Conactive efficiently extracted, cleaned, and transformed data from the single source of truth, optimizing it for various applications.

·       SQL Database: The transformed data was stored in an SQL database, integrated with the Business Intelligence (BI) solution. This integration enabled seamless data management and querying capabilities, facilitating complex analysis and reporting.

·       Board Dashboard: Customized, interactive dashboards were developed using PowerBI, providing business users with real-time, actionable insights into the BBC's financial performance. These dashboards enabled the identification of key performance indicators (KPIs), trends, and patterns, supporting strategic decision-making.
